There are primarily three elements to any stained glass window. When considering human time, the glass is, for the most part, ageless.. There are usually steel bars attached to the inside of large stained glass panels or windows which we consider an addition to the window itself. Note: all cement has a shelf life. It is vital in providing stability and rigidity to all windows it is the first to go in the aging process. Note: all lead and zinc has a shelf life (the materials require for the “scaffolding” of most stained glass windows and the time limit is 70 to 80 years.
